The Odd's and End's

 Prelude

This page is filled with mere ramblings about this site, the show, the visitor feedback and anything else related that you might be interested in. If you're visiting this site JUST for The Sopranos you'll find this page stupid and meaningless.

This is the page where I not only get to do my Andy Rooney segment but also my George Carlin impression by asking..... "Is it just me.. or......"

For now, new stuff is at the bottom of the page.

The number of visitors on this site is increasing. This month so far is averaging about 2,400 visitors a day. That's up from about 1,800 last month. There are still quite a few people just getting into the show and are looking for past episodes. HBO still hasn't made them available. I guess they want people order HBO at home.

I've been getting quite a bit of email lately from Internet Merchants wanting me to join their affiliate programs so I can sell movie and tv merchandise crap. I've been considering it but haven't decided. This past two weeks I've received these emails from a movie retailer, a movie/tv memorabilia and some move gift place.

Did you know I could have been making over $200 per month over the past 3 months with this site just by doing nothing but putting advertising banners on the pages? Yep, it's true. Many banner advertisers will pay by banner impression. With the number of visitors at this site being the way it is, the impressions alone would have produced over $200/month. I will probably put some banners on because I'd be crazy not to but I'm going to keep it at a bare minimum. I hate when I go to a site and it's loaded with advertising banners. I'm sick of "getting a low-percentage" Visa or "find my perfect date" or winning my dream vacation for free. Advertising on the Internet is big money and can produce big money. It's good for everyone except the visitor who came to the site for something more than getting bombarded with ad's. It's like trying to get down the isle at a Macey's or Marshall Field's or a Nordstrom's at Christmas time and trying to make it through the Perfume Queens without being spotted.

Is anyone else getting tired of the phrase "busting my balls'? This is used way too often in The Sopranos. There was a run of about 4 or 5 shows where they used it all the time. The translation from Italian to English in the "Commendatori" episode was the ultimate overkill.

I got an email from a fan in England saying you can buy The Sopranos episodes on tape at stores over there. Gee, thanks guys....

Does anyone else NOT like the "official" Sopranos Web Site? You know, the HBO site. Pages made up in frames and which have a lot of little flashy things is an ok concept. Frames can make navigation easier but it takes away from your screen size. It's great for photo galleries and looking at books or something else where you need to get to deeper layers of the same topic. But it's a real distraction when you're visiting a regular site. OK, I'll live with two frames but HBO uses "FOUR!". Your eyes can barely focus on what you're trying to read because little flashy and brightly colored little things are going off in another frame.

Have you ever seen Silvio "do" anything? He always comes strolling in for a meeting or hanging out at parties. You gotta love his Godfather impressions and the way he walks and talks.

I run all of my pages through a spell-checker before uploading them. This gets difficult sometime because I do not edit or spell check any of the email I receive and use on the "Feedback Pages". So I have to figure out what to ignore and what to correct. People's names are always a problem so I'm starting to add them to the custom dictionary. The only name that didn't have a problem was "Big Pussy". Wha'da know about that?
