Tony Sirico, at age 57, has been in more
mobster movies than you can imagine. The latest count credits
him to 40 different movies where he was a gangster or the bad
guy.
Is he a natural? I don't think anyone can
dispute this. He's got the look, the moves and the voice for
it. |
He finally reached superstar staus when
he became Pauli Walnuts on The Sopranos. "Walnuts'
apparently is the nickname given to him because of foiled hijack
attempt. A truck which was supposed to be filled with electronics
ended up being filled with walnuts instead. His real last name
on the show is Gualtieri.
Tony Sirico grew up in Brooklyn, New York
and currently lives with his mother in Bensonhurst, New York.
Tony is also not unfamiliar with the hard times and crime. In
his younger days he was sent to jail on several occasions for
holding up night clubs. During his stay in prison he became interested
in acting after watching a theater group which came to perform.
He also says that the film Public Enemy starring James
Cagney had a big influence on him.
The Sopranos has given Tony Sirico new
found fame. Even though he has appeared in over 45 films including
The Godfather, Goodfellas and many other high profile
films, he is now recognized everywhere he goes. People all over
want his autograph and he gets the special treatment that only
a celebrity gets.
He's made it to the big time and is finally
being recognised for it. Tony has stated that he's worked very
hard all his life and he's finally made it. |
