What the f*$k is up with this show.
Tony has become an obnoxious prick with
the spinal cord of a jelly fish. Last season was kick ass. But as
soon as a
show becomes a hit. A few feminists and homo's have to try and make
it
better. Its becoming the new "90210". Gimme a break with
the divorce sh*t.
How cares? The whole episode that just aired was about pussy's wife
wanting a
divorce because he doesn't pay her enough attention (Boo f**kin Hoo).
And
Tony trying to sell some over priced German trash to a "Sophia
Lauren"
look-a-like.
HBO needs to do the show a favor
and get rid of the crap and get back to what
works. Yeah they will still have viewers. But it has gone from the
16 to 40
viewer age range, to the 12 and 26 age range.
So thats my opinon....
- One of the
few emails which actually was censored! I agree that the divorce
thing was a little too soap-opera like. However I don't agree at
ALL with Tony being a Jellyfish. You gotta remember, he was in a
totally different environment and culture and he knew no one and
essentially had no connections. I actually think he did quite well
holding his own. Plus he still said he made double on the cars.
It sounded like it's more than he expected to get.
Episode 4 was good, I enjoyed the
parts in Italy very much. Pauly
Wallnuts has been one of my favorite characters since the shows inception,
it was nice to see him back to his old wise cracks, we haven't seen
that
much dialog from him since the first show. But I missed Silvio. He's
as
unique a character as well. Seeing Tony's body language in the car
ride
back from the airport raises my suspicion that he knows about Christopher's
drug problem, (something that the show has done a good job in building
up
to, I'd add) The show really needs to keep up this trend that 3 and
4 have
given us. I thought 1 and 2 were good ground builders for the new
season
but lacked plot.
Episode 5 looks interesting, and as usual I'm looking forward to it.
Definitely missed Anthony Jr. this
episode. Also, what happened w/ Meadow between last week and this
week regarding the trashed house?! Still, I don't want to complain
too much - this show is tops. Paulie had some outstanding lines -
it's good to see him with a little more exposure. I think Pussy needs
to do some major attitude changes, and I can't blame his wife for
wanting to leave. Please - someone tell Tony what Pussy's up to!
I'm an avid watcher and fan of
the Sopranos. Recently my 12 year old has
been joining in as a family show because all the kids "at school"
are
watching the show. The story and cast are great and we can handle
the
language, however, the sexual content is becoming a little too graphic
for
young teeanagers. The show has gotten so much publicity, the audience
is
becoming younger. PLEASE TRY TO BE A LITTLE MORE DISCREET, MAYBE EVEN
SUGGESTIVE, IN THE SEXUAL CONTENT!
THANK YOU!!
- Remember, this
is a Fan Site of The Sopranos. I have nothing to do with HBO and
have no input into anything about the show. And also, this is Cable
and the show is rated MA - Mature Audiences. I don't think that
a 12 year old is considered "mature". Taking away or toning
down the language would take away some of the realism and 'rawness'
of the show. These guys are in the Mafia, or mob or organized crime
- whatever you want to call it. Why water it down? Perhaps if these
shows are ever syndicated on regular TV they will have to bleep
out the nudity and language. The show would still be good but it
wouldn't have the same feel.
Meadow looks great this season.
just the way an italian guy would like a girl
to look. richie is without a doubt the scariest character ever on
a tv
series. this season is not as funny as last year but it is much darker
which
makes it much more interesting. i find myself re-watching the same
episode 3
& 4 times & picking out more pieces. i hope this show goes
on for years.
- Wow, finally
someone has something GOOD to say about Meadow! And about Richie,
did you know he was cast to play Tony Soprano before the show began?
Yep it's true. He was eventually passed up for James Gandolfini.
Without a doubt, the notion that
Pussy's wife wants a divorce is a major
one. Carmella's stuff about "marriage being a sacrament"
is just a front;
she, as well as all the Mafia wives, know that a contentious divorce
would
result in a lot of family business being brought into the open before
a
court. It wouldn't surprise me if this becomes a major issue for the
boys
in future episodes; they would probably have her whacked before allowing
her
to divorce Pussy.
I don't think that the man in the
party store with Pussy is a fed. I get
the feeling that he is from another mob who wants to take over Tony's
turf.
He said in another episode (maybe last week) that Pussy has been on
the take
since 98 from this other mob and not the fed's. The divorce story
is
important because it is showing Carmella that she is not the only
one who is
unhappy with her husbands business. Whether or not she will leave
Tony
remains to be seen. I bet we will hear more about that towards the
end of
the season. Overall with episodes #3 and 4 being pretty good I feel
that
the series still has a chance at being a successful one.
This show IS the greatest since
the Godfather films. But, I have some
concerns after seeing episode 17...What was up with Meadow and cleaning
the
old lady's house after she crashed it? The new show didn't explain
where the
last one left off. And, i can't wait to see what Janice's place will
be once
the shit gets stirred between her and her mother. I agree with someone
who
said that Richie was about the scariest looking creature on the show.
I
missed seeing Silvio in this one. Why didn't he get to go to italy
with his
palsiosos? I love this show but I wasn't so crazy about this one.
I hope
next weeks is better. I don't think Meadow looks good at all. She
looks
like she's eaten one too many bowls of pasta since the new series
began....Her face and body look blotted to me. Anthony jr. looks better
than
ever. Carm's lines crack me up. Remember last episode when she said
that
she couldn't kick Janice out of their house because "It wasn't
Christian?"
Now that, was too funny if you all know what I mean.
The pending divorce is crucial
because it is forcing Carmella to examine her situation. She tells
Pussy's wife
that marriage is a "holy sacrament", but who is she trying
to convince of this? Pussy's wife or herself? It appears
that Carmella is trying to rationalize why she stays with Tony. The
irony is huge. Carmella refers to the holiness
of marriage yet her husband makes a living killing and stealing, and
despite the fact that Carmella speaks of
religious ideology (she also did this in episode 16 when she told
Tony that kicking Janice out wouldn't be "Christian"), she
seems to love the riches that Tony's not so holy profession brings
to the family. Is she a hypocrite? Maybe, but I think its more of
a tunnel vision thing. She is trying desperately to focus on the things
that are supposed to be good and right because she wants to convince
herself she is a good person, but the bad things of which she is very
much involved in are inevitably clouding that perspective.
- You're right,
the marriage issue which has been an underlying aspect of the show
is now being dealt with more openly. Last season Carmela spent time
talking with Father Phil about it quite a bit and we got to see
how she views marriage. Now it's happening to one of her friends
who is actually talking about doing something about it. Carmela
knows she's in the same situation and is just living with it. I
really thinks she doesn't want Pussy's wife to leave him although
the alternative doesn't have a happy ending either.
I think episode No. 17 was great.
It gives a good look at how organized
crime isn't just some hoods doing their business in their neighborhood.
I think the second season is shaping up nicely; it's telling its stories
without hitting you over the head with overt, in-your-face writing.
I
think some viewers are getting hung up on small things (Meadow's weight,
Pussy's home troubles, and Carmella's lack of involvement, for a few
examples) that are incidental to the overall story line. I think it
shows that mobsters have real lives and seemingly mundane concerns
like
all of us. I would be bored if it were like Season 1, and it takes
time
to set up characters for future conflicts. I think Janice is a great
character, and Richie looks like he's going to be a great
antagonist--both are question marks and will cause trouble for Tony.
I'm
just enjoying how the story goes, and I'm not trying to guess what's
going to happen, because I think we're in for a great ride.
Great site--I come back all the
time, especially for your comments as
well as other viewers' comments. It's sad that some viewers are getting
wrapped up in nonsense (again, Meadow's weight, characters' absences,
slow plot lines, domestic scenes, and on and on) because this is a
great
show. Keep up the good work.
- You're right
on the money here. Most of the complaints I receive always have
to do with issues which are trivial and have nothing to do with
what the show is intended to be. People don't seem to take into
account that this show is supposed to be about the DAILY life and
times of a family in the mob/crime business. It's supposed to portray
real life situations. So what if Meadow has gained weight! This
is NOT Baywatch and the the actors and actresses are not supposed
to be models. You also can't compare this show to a movie. A movie
is a 2-hour snapshot. It has a beginning and an end. The filming
is done in a certian timeframe whether it is two weeks or two years.
All of the actors are already cast and they will be there for however
long their role calls for. Look at WizeGuys. It covered close to
a lifespan of events. The Sopranos is a SERIES which may last two
season or it may last 20 seasons. New characters have to be introduced
on a regular basis. People may decide to quite the show for whatever
reason and unfortunatly paople may die. Nancy Marchand has caner
and her future is unknown. I'm not saying people can't find faults
with the show and have valid criticisms but don't analyze the show
to death and complain about peoples looks or that Janices' 'face
is too big'. This is exactly what the show is SUPPOSED
to portray.
I'm writing this in response to
some of the feedback that was already
posted. First of all, someone teach that first guy how to spell. His
comments were pretty moronic. I like them focusing on the wifes questioning
their marriages. This show is different from other Mafia treatments
because
it deals with the everyday family life of mobsters. You can't ignore
the
feelings of the wives. I alwyays wonder how Mafia wives can deal with
all
of the cheating that their husbands do, even though they never have
to worry
about money. (FYI - I'm a guy and I'm not gay).
In response to the person who said
HBO should tone down The Sopranos, NO
WAY! The reason this show is so great is that it doesn't have to hold
back
like shows on network TV do. To tone it down would take away from
the
integrity of the show - Did anyone see that horrible Sammy the Bull
movie on
NBC ("Get the heck out of here you big jerk!") That was
awful! If you
don't want your kids watching that, don't let them. Don't expect HBO
to
change the show because you have no discipline over your children.
- Yep, you're
right about the compaints about toning the show down. HBO didn't
intend this show to be viewed by 12 year olds. As I stated above,
this is a cable show rated MA for Mature Aduiences. The show would
not be as realistic without the language. Besides, the show's language
is no different than most of the comedy specials HBO has. Have you
ever seen any of George Carlin's Comedy Specials? You know, the
same guy who plays Mr. Conductor on PBS? Certain shows are developed
for network televsion and certain shows are made for cable. I doubt
there will ever be a happy medium because what may be offensive
to one person may not be to another.
