For some reason, I thought this was one of the most boring episodes and
pointless ones I have watched so far. It did not catch my attention. I
still don't like Richie, even though some people I spoke to, told me that
he was growing on them. You didn't mention anything about Livia and what drama queen and attention seeker she was. There's not much I can say about this episode, more that I already have. I guess I didn't look into it as much as I should have.

Well, this is bound to happen. With an estimated 10 million viewers watching each episode, there's no way that everyone is going to like everything. It will just never happen.

I think a lot depends on what you're expecting. Many people look at this show and try to compare it to a movie. Most movies nowadays cost upwards to 100 million dollars to make and can often take several years to produce. Every scene is evaluated, reevaluated, shot an incredible amount of times and so on and so on. Often hundreds of hours of footage are thrown away since everything has to fit into a two hour timeframe. Generally with a movie 'saga' you have a beginning, a middle and an end. An entire lifetime can be squeezed into a two hour film. The Sopranos on the other hand is more of a drama (even a glorified soap opera). It's 'supposed' to depict the daily life and times of Tony. So, as part of his daily life, there's going to be the kids with their little problems, the whole high-school and college thing and the hundreds of other little situations which come about. Something like this would be impossible to do in a movie. While the whole poker scene may have been boring to some people, I can guarantee you that tens of thousands of people were dying to see that situation play itself out. It's just simply nothing you'd ever see in a movie or on a regular tv show.

Again, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and everyone likes certain things and not others. If you don't like Tony, then you're probobly not going to like this show. If you think Silvio's impressions of The Godfather are stupid, then again, you're probobly going to look at this show in a different light.

Who knows, The Sopranos may air for 2 years or it could go on for another 10. There's simply no way that every episode is going to be a big hit for everyone. If you have an interest in daily mob life then you'll probobly enjoy the show and appreciate it for what it is. If you like to see only the 'big picture' then you're probobly not going to like a lot of it.

I think that the "executive game" is a big part of what will happen later. Remember earlier, when Junior was running the game? Tony asked Junior to call his folks for the game. Also remember that Junior still wants to remain the boss and I think he's looking for enough on Tony to take him to "The family" to get permission to have him "demoted". Tony broke a big rule - don't invite outside friends into family business! When Junior gets wind of this (and he will from the bad scene that Richie caused) I think he'll tuck that away as another example of Tony's immaturity to run the family business. As for the outsider - one more person to worry about becoming a rat to the feds.

Best episode ever. They way Tony drew the line from friendship to
business with David Scatino was frightening. And Artie new in his heart
of hearts that when David came to see him and said he was in trouble it
was going to be something with Tony (after all he saw the in the
bathroom at the High School). Two other thoughts: Moma wasn't sleeping
in the backseat of the car on the ride back from the funeral home and
the way she gave Tony a look at the funeral home, I think she is getting
sympathetic towards him again. Also, the scene at Cabaret night when
Eric had words with Meadow, the look on Meadow's face was, "don't talk
about my dad".
Best line in episode #19: Tony to Junior: I remember my mother arquing
with my father about his feeble minded brother, I always thought it was
you."

Thanks for the reminder about the 'best line'. That is one of the better ones. It's always hard to know what Livia is thinking and although it would help Tony out if she would start feeling sympathetic toward him, only time is going to tell. If she sides with Janice and Richie's already sided with Janice then Tony has really big trouble ahead.
