Hi Webmaster! Great to have you back.
Your episode breakdowns were
missed! ( and we're with ya 100% on the icky Janice and Richie sex
scene...YUCK! Made us feel REAL oooooooooooookie. We didn't need to see
gratuitous hippo sex! ) Hope you are back for good.
Thanks for the comments
and yes, I did have to take several weeks off from the site. I was frantically
making web sites for a consulting company and I had deadlines to meet.
Everything should be back to normal from here on out.
It's hard to believe
there are going to be only 3 Episodes left this season. Who knows how
long we'll have to wait for Season #3. I imagine it won't be until next
year.
Why did the 'Good Samaritan' forget
who he saw coming out of the house?
Because he found out that the person he saw was a mob boss. The cops
didn't tell him the person he identified was the boss of NJ, nor did
they tell
him that the person shot (Matthew) was connected. The 'Good Samaritan'
said, "What happened, some sort of crack thing?" And the cops
ambiguously
replied, "Somethin' lke that." Then when the GS found out
that T was who he was (in the newspaper article) the GS wanted nothing
to do with it, which was a wise and practical decision.
Tony's dark side has been much more
explored this season, and when he
nonchalantly explained to his broken friend why he was bankrupting him,
he displayed very little empathy. It was all matter of fact. Unfortunately,
the
average person is scared sh--less of the idea of bankruptcy because
of
the financial and social ramifications, but to a person who operates
outside of the law such as Tony, it's just business.
I'm anxious to see if Janice's attempt
to light a fire under Richie
will work, and whether or not Junior will be manipulated by Richie,
or if
he'll atone for his hit on Tony and side with him. The last three episodes
are gonna be money.
Note: I doubt Carmella's brief attempt
at an affair will be played out
any further.
That certainly
makes sense that once the witness realized the guy he was fingering
was mob related he quickly decided to change his mind. I thought there
would be some contact with him but maybe it didn't even have to go
that far.
You're right, Tony's
devious side really came out much more intensly this episode. The
whole scene of 'picking the bones' of his life-long friend was a clear
example. I believe Tony really looks at this as 'business' and personal
issues do not come into play at all. Fortunatly the guy wasn't that
likeable to begin with otherwise I'd really feel sorry for him.
Richie is certainly
'his own man'. As he says "I'm from the old school. If you don't
respect the title, you got nothing...". He's always on the borderline
of accepting his new role and living with the situation but then he's
got Janice constantly hitting a nerve. That situation clearly can't
go on forever and something has to give.
The future of Carmela's
little fling is tough to call. I don't think the situation was a big
surprise to anyone but as to how deep or serious it will get is hard
to tell at this point.
I am very new to The Sopranos, having
jumped on about 5 weeks ago (The Executive Game was my first) but like
the mob itself I already feel pulled in.
This episode crosses many paths, as do they all. Let us not forget how
religious Carmela is. The brief fling with the wallpaper man will play
on her mind.
In the Tony / Richie / Davie saga there are no good guys. Yes, Davie has
a disease but he is also of weak character and his family suffers for
it. Any man with a wife and kids can and should take heed of how selfish
behavior can destroy innocent loved ones.
I have had this feeling all along that HBO is not glorifying the mob;
on the contrary, how can I enjoy Tony's little pool scenes with AJ when
I know how the pool got built? And the fishing rod? Didn't he learn from
the SUV he tried to give Meadow? Apparantly not.
And these guys are not careful. He suspects, deep down, that Pussy's a
rat and yet he goes on a hit with him, and fires the first shots? And
what if Davie, who now has nothing left to lose, rolls over for the Feds?
They sent Capone away for tax evasion, didn't they?
So I am drawn to this show like I might be to a car wreck or a fire. The
performances are outstanding, probably because there is a little bit of
a criminal in us all.
i like to share a thought.....this
is the last season we will probably be
seeing livia. i took a good look at her last night and she is well on
her
way. sorry to see this, but she is definitely losing weight and drying
up.
very fine actress indeed that added a lot of good moments to the show.
i
really don't have the slightest about how they are going to handle the
death
of this actress. we all know by now that she is terminally ill, and it
is
just a matter of time. personally i hope they write this in the script
and
do not replace her with another livia......
everyone seems to hate richie, but
he is the few that are really what the mobs about. the sopranos first
came it was supposed to be a comedy, but since its taken a darker tone,
so the characters have become darker. everyone has this romantic vision
of what the mobs about, but dont realise that it`s filled with more richies
than you can imagine. hate richie all you want, but remember if richie
were not part of the story, tony would have succumbed to the bullies that
richie used to whoop on.
As I mentioned many
times in the past, Richie was cast to play Tony Soprano before James
G. He does have that criminal and gangster look and way about him. And
I'm sure you're right that very many people in the crime business are
very much like Richie. All I know is I wouldn't want to get in his way.
Right now, Tony has very little opposition and he knows it. Richie has
his flare-ups now and again but he's seems resigned to the fact that
this is the way it is for now. Until Junior asks him to do something,
he's going to play along. We have 3 episodes left this season to find
out what's going to happen with him. From an interview I saw of him
a while back, he made it sound like he'd be around for a while.
The scene with Richie and Janice having
sex may not have been very stimulating for most of us, but you have to
admit the humor when the camera starts off at Richie's backside and then
pans over to Janices head where you finally come to realize that Richie
is holding a gun to her head.
File under Kinky Irony.
I would have LOVED
to be at the filming of that scene. Making that scene come off without
laughing or getting extremely embarassed must have been quite an accomplishment.
The gun pointing at her head was pretty kinky. In TV you always see
people living out their deep and dark fantasies by doing something which
is totally unrealistic for them. Like some guy dreaming about being
the big cheese at the Harem. Here we see Richie, a real gangster with
a real gun having sex while pointing a gun and having little things
whispered to him about how important he his. Ohhh Richie, you're such
a dork.
I am so tired of the therapist scenes!!!!
They are so boring. That therapist should be fired anyway. She is a terrible
analyst. I hope there aren't that many therapists out there in reality
who are as terrible as she is. But for entertainment purposes...BIG SNORE.
Peter Bogdonovich is much better. Maybe he could take over (that is if
we HAVE to see Tony in therapy). Otherwise great show. We never miss it.
I'm inclined to agree
with you on this one. The whole psychiatrist thing was a major premise
of the show and last season it worked well into the entire script and
development of the episodes. This season the sessions seem to be more
'filler' than anything else. I still don't know where they're going
with it. We were speculating about some type of an affair between Tony
and Dr. Melfi but right now I can't see that happening at all.
I really loved the scene between Meadow
and her father in the kitchen at night. Meadow is a good daughter and
really understands Tony. "Everyone's a hypocrite," she says
and she's right. I also thought it was interesting that Junior warned
Richie about Janis. He's getting played like a violin.
You're the first
person to bring up that Junior warned Richie about Janice. It took me
a little off guard and I wasn't quite sure what he meant by it. Junior
and the rest of the boys have a tough time trusting anyone as it is.
I think this was the first time Junior has even talked about her but
I'm sure he knows what she's after.
To think that the man who plays Richie
Aprile would have taken Tony's part, would have changed evrything about
the Sopranos. Could you picture Richie with Carmella?
It's really hard
to imagie what The Sopranos would have been like with Richie
as Tony Soprano. I doubt it would have the same charm and comedy-like
feel to it. It would be hard to rally behind Richie and support him.
He's just not the kind of guy you like. Obviously it's a role he's playing
and I've seen him on interviews and he's an OK kind of guy. I honestly
can't see anyone but James G playing Tony. Richie's the kind of guy
you'd like to see crushed like a bug. You really don't want to see him
dead but just hurt a lot. Tony's got to sick Furio on him.
I thought episode 23 was by far the
best one of the year. It had several story lines running at once. I think
the scene where Davie is asleep (we assume) in the tent in his store means
something. What if he heard what Tony and Paulie were talking about and
decides to get revenge. Tony's sister has
gotten more vital to the plot with each growing week. She is potentially
the most dangerous threat to Tony other than of course Pussy. Love the
show and can't wait for the episodes to be put on a DVD boxed set.
It's amazing how
much influence Janice has on Tony and the show. You'd really think she'd
be very insignificant since she's been away for over 20 years and has
absolutly nothing to do with the Family Business. She also seems to
know too much. She keeps egging Richie on by saying things like "Well
this wouldn't have been going on if Jackie was in charge" and statements
like that. How would she know WHAT's going on in the last 20 years if
she's been away? And this person is now one of Tony's biggest threats?
