EPISODE # 18 - Big Girls Don't Cry

This episode had so much going in it that it's tough to know where to start. It was one of those shows that you wish would have never ended. My two favorite scenes? The one where Carmela slammed the door in Junior's face and the very violent scene at the end with Furio. Even with his violent beating and the shot in the knee cap, somehow you still end up liking the guy. He has a certain look about him and along with the accent that it makes it hard not to like the guy. I mean look at when we were first introduced to Richie and all of the punishment he dished out. We disliked the guy right away and the more we see of him the less we like him. Anyway, that's just my opinion. I'm interested in knowing how you feel about him.

There's movement going on in the family. Furio, as part of the agreement last week, has come over to work as part of Tony's team. For immigration purposes, Tony gets him at job with Artie at the restaurant. Of course, Artie's wife doesn't like this at all, but that's no surprise, is it? She doesn't like ANYTHING. Have you ever seen her smile or like anything that has ever happened?

Paulie has moved up in rank and Pussy has to report directly to him and Silvio. Paulie is such a great addition to the show, isn't he? He can be both ruthless and hysterically funny at the same time. He's always got some great line to add. At this point it's pretty clear that Pussy is working with the Feds and providing them with information. It's still odd that he'd take the risk of being seen at a restaurant. It's just a matter of time until something gives.

Janice is trying to get a loan to but Livia's house and it seems that Richie and her are starting to kindle the old flame again. I just don't see the two of them in a relationship. Even though we don't know very much about either of them, somehow I just don't see what the attraction is or even what they have in common. Sure maybe they were friends in high school but that was so long ago and Richie spent most of his life in the crime business with the exception of his time in jail. Plus I always thought he was a lot older than she was for them to be close in high school.

The whole Christopher storyline in this episode was kind of weird. I never really did understand it. Sure, it was entertaining but it's hard to believe that a guy who had a fairly major role in the last season now has time do do nothing but write screen plays and take acting lessons.

And let's not forget Dr. Melfi...... what a mouth on her. That kind, gentle and caring person we met last season is turning into something quite different. All of us knew that she would be seeing Tony again at some time. That was a major premise of the show after all. But to see her convert from what she was to what she's becoming is not what I expected. Tony's even talking openly now about his business. She didn't even blink an eye when he told her what Furio did. She just replied "and how did that make you feel?".

The few conversations between Tony and Hesh were pretty funny. Both of them carrying on their own conversation and they probably would have gone on if Tony hadn't lost his temper each time. We also learned from Hesh that Tony's father also had panic attacks once or twice a year. Does that mean anything? I don't know, but somehow I think it will make Tony feel better about himself.

Anyway, as I said this episode was loaded with so much that I'll have to watch it again to remember all of the small details.
