EPISODE # 24 - House Arrest

If you're new to The Sopranos or just an occasional viewer then you're not going to like this episode. You'll find it slow moving, very little action and a lot of corny dialog. However, if you don't fit into either of those two categories then you'll simply love this episode.

House Arrest. This has been Junior's plight this entire season. The only problem was that we never saw him at home and what he did.... until tonight. He's got to be one of the funniest characters I've ever seen. It's not just his one-liners but also his glances and facial expressions. He's always got some sarcastic comment to make about everything. He had some great one-liners this week. Such as "You know how I feel about feet" and "Where do you think I live, in Oshkosh"? (that's Wisconsin, also know as the Dairy state for you foreign visitors).

Seeing him stand in the kitchen for 6 hours with his hand down the disposal was a classic. His comment to the telephone operator was hysterical, especially since we can all relate to that one. And to Livia he says "What you don't know could fill a book". When I first heard that line it made sense but thinking about it some more I realize it doesn't make any sense at all. His sleep apnea mask was the ultimate though. Even Tony couldn't resist when he said "How many migs did you shoot down last week?". Junior also has an old friend, Catherine Romano making visits now. Wonder what she wants?

Tony is back having his dizzy spells and passing out again. His psychologist is drinking heavily and is still in conflict as to whether or not she should see Tony. She finally said how I had summed it up about 4 weeks back. She said it's like the train wreck syndrome. You know it's bad but still you want to see it and know what's going to happen next.

Taking the advice of his lawyer, Tony is spending some time at one of his companies so that things look legit. Obviously Tony is not your typical office worker and he spends his time doodling and making up a office pool for the workers. Then there was the fringe benefit of having the office secretary. I swear when that scene slowly moved from the floor up and you saw two people going at it with the sound of a dog barking, I really thought that it was going to be Richie and Janice having sex and that Richie was doing the barking!

Richie and Janice are getting married and planning to move into and 850,000 house. Not bad for a guy who was just in jail for the past 10 years and a woman who still gets welfare checks from Washington. Janice is even talking about having kids. One of the ways Richie is paying for this is that he is selling cocaine on the side in his garbage pickup route. When Tony find out he becomes infuriated and confronts both Richie and Junior about it. The message is very clear: "No selling drugs when you're picking up the garbage". Later we find out that Richie is still doing it and the truck was even caught on tape. Tony finds out but we don't now what's going to come of it.

Big Pussy as Sargent Shultz? I thought he did a great job. He had the look and the accent. Somehow the boys got a hold of some WWII stuff including jeeps, guns, uniforms and many other things. The things Tony is into never seems to end.

Christopher is up and limping around. He looked good and seemed normal. That entire scene at the end was one of those that will stick in your mind forever. Paulie and Silvio talking about having a lot of luck with the hand cream was hysterical. As I said, if you're new to the show this scene will seem dumb, but it does just show what a typical day might be like.

No Meadow or AJ this week. No Vic, Davey or Artie either.

Only two episodes left this season and according to the promos the season ender is supposed to be something big.

I'll make more updates as the days go by. Just wanted to get this out there quickly after the show ended.

Got any thoughts or opinions you'd like to share?
