This episode is very difficult to comment on right now. It's one which you have to sit back and think about it for a while and watch it a few times before you can make sense out of it. Sure, you can ignore the first 40 minutes and talk about what happened at the end; Big Pussy, the graduation, Davie, the arrest and Livia but this wouldn't do this episode justice. David Chase was one of the writers of this one and the more you think about it you realize how brilliant this was. Did you know what was going on for the first 35 minutes? It was a blend of laughter, dreams and hallucinations. We're following Tony down this dream world trying to discern truth from fantasy, reality from dreams and all the while wanting to know what's really going to happen. Some of the scenes were out of sequence and many scenes were full of symbolisms. It was hard enough trying to figure out if what you were seeing was real or not. It kept you on edge and awake. You sat there watching it, seeing what was going on and at the same time you knew that you were missing something, something important. The scenes and sequences were as well done as any big budget motion picture I've seen. The scene with the talking fish was brilliant. Many aspects of what happened in Season II was covered to some extent. Tony's conversations with Dr. Melfi, whether they were all real or not were top-notch. Much of what she had avoided talking about came right out in the open. Some scenes were hysterically funny, especially the ones involving the food poisoning. Anthony Jr was in top form and although Meadow is still somewhat rebellious, I do think she's seeing that she is more like Tony all the time. We got to see Barbara again, Tony's other sister. There was a lot of bickering going on as to who was going to take care of Livia. Barbara didn't want anything to do with her and we know how Tony feels. Tony gives her the stolen airline tickets and lo and behold, she is arrested at the airport. Not much later the Feds show up and search Tony's house and arrest him. He's not in holding long and his lawyer claims he's not in any type of real trouble, yet Tony is worried. Pussy....he's anchored at the bottom of the ocean. Shot and killed by Tony, Silvio and Paulie for turning information over to the government. We still don't know all of the repercussions of what information he turned over and how much it will affect Tony down the road. The airline tickets and the phone card scam are the biggest problem. Are you going to miss Big Pussy? Christopher is going to be recommended to move up in rank, or actually get a rank. He was a nobody before and now he's on the move. Much still needs to be written about this episode. This is one that you have to stew about for a while. I have a feeling that many people are going to have negative things to say about this one. But before you do, think about it some more, watch it again and try to give it some perspective. Not only is this the end of the second season, but we're going to have to wait almost 9 months for the third season. There was no room for a cliff-hanger. Nine months is too long to see what was going to happen. This episode had to give some answers and also open some doors. I believe it accomplished this superbly.
