Episode 46- "Watching Too Much Television" aired 10/27/2002 I've been wondering all season if the focus is moving away from the "continuing saga" approach. After this episode I've decided that it's probably true. In a way, it's a good thing because it could easily turn into a soap opera. On the other hand there are some great story lines that have been left forever dangling. Getting away from the mind set that I want or need resolution to some of the interactions will be difficult but not impossible. Episodes 45 and 46 were both very solid stand alones and we are starting to see more concentrated character development. There were some tie in's from previous episodes tonight. For instance it has been obvious all season that there is a lot of sexual tension between Carm and Furio. It has always seemed a bit one sided as to who is more uncomfortable. The conflict from Ep 45 where Carm sets him up with a blind date seemed to shake up the the mix, but tonight it's obvious there is something between both of them. Paulie is finally out! Yeah!! He had very little screen time, but it seems he'll be back in full swing with some more great lines. He's getting chummy with Johnny Sack again too. Tony is taking a lot of interest in Carm's cousin.... the investment advisor. He tells a story about making big bucks off the Federal Gov by buying up condemned property and selling it off through a nonprofit organization. He gets a black youth organization, the assemblyman, A few MD's and Ralphie involved and they all walk away with some big bucks. Not such good luck for the druggies squatting in the houses though. Tony is also starting to worry about how AJ seems so out of touch with life in general. He tried talking about it with Dr. Melfi, but was interrupted by her attempt to discuss his aggression in their previous session. He also let her know how upset he was about the referral for Meadow who almost sent her off to Europe. Has anyone else noticed how little we are seeing of the kids this season? Tony finds out that the Assemblyman is involved with Irena. He seems to take it well, but he had a need to see for himself. The encounter was tense, but stirred up the past. At the end of the episode he is drawn back to the Assemblyman's home where he whips the guy with a belt for shacking up with the girl he dumped. It seems his used women are all fragile enough to attempt suicide. Is it possible that someone closer to him will take her own life??? Nothin' like making a lifetime commitment based on a TV show aye? Ade decides she and Christopher should be married so she can't be forced to testify against him. She heard it on a movie on TV no less. Christopher also finds out that she may not be able to have children. At one point it seemed that he would dump her, but he came around......... Maybe??? After the announcements for the upcoming wedding she finds out that her information may not be accurate and seeks advice from a cop. Now she's having second thoughts or so it seems based on her excitement about her shower gifts. I definitely got the feeling she's not into cooking!! |
